Abstract

Continuing our interest in the reactions of phosphorous compounds, 1 we have studied the reactions of the furfuryl-, dihydrofurfuryl-, and tetrahydrofurfuryltriphenylphosphonium bromides under Wittig conditions with benzaldehyde and cyclohexanone. The large volume of work in the past 10 years involving the Wittig reaction has showna that this synthesis is relatively free of side reactions.
