Abstract
4-Nitrofluorenone also seems to be well known, having first been prepared by Schmidt and Bawl2 from the known 4-nitrophenanthraquinone by means of the benzilic acid rearrangement followed by oxidation and decarboxylation. Courtot3 and Bell4 have confirmed this work. 1-Nitrofluorenone has not been prepared. 3-Nitrofluorenone was first reported by Schmidt and Soli5 who obtained it by the simultaneous nitration and oxidation ...
