Abstract

In a typical procedure, ethyl magnesium bromide was prepared by stirring magnesium metal (0.36 g, 15 mmol) and ethyl bromide (1.6 g, 15 mmol) in dry-ether (20 ml) for 20 minutes under a N 2 atmosphere at room temperature. This was subsequently added to a solution of phenyl azide (119 g, 10 mmol) in dry ether (5 ml).
