Abstract

We have recently developed a novel and efficient method for synthesising Erlenmeyer azlactones under mild and rapid conditions. The reaction is performed by reacting 2-phenyl- 5-oxazolone with an aldehyde in dichloromethane using alumina as a catalyst.
