Abstract

The generic term chalcones refer to compounds with a main 1,3-diphenylprop-2-enone core. Chemically chalcones are open chain flavonoids with two aromatic rings linked via a three carbon α,β-unsaturated enone system. These compounds are widely found in numerous species of plant, which are used as traditional folk medicines for treatment of a large number of diseases.
