Abstract
An efficient synthesis of phenacyl thiocyanates and phenacyl azides is described here. Styrenes react with ammonium thiocyanate and sodium azide in the presence of cerium (IV) ammonium nitrate under an oxygen atmosphere to afford phenacyl thiocyanates and phenacyl azides respectively in good yields.
