Abstract

Methyl o-Allylaalicylate (4). A mixture of 252 g (1.65 mol) methyl salicylate, 840 mL of acetone, 227 g (1.64 mol) of potassium carbonate and 142 mL (1.64 mol) of allyl bromide was heated to reflux for 10 h. NMR analysis indicated that the reaction had ceased at 60%. An additional 142 mL of allyl bromide and 114
