Abstract
3, 3-Bis (chloromethyl) oxetane is commercially available and is used as a monomer in the manufacture of Pentaplast [4]. The occurrence of several reactive sites in the same molecule (the two chlorine atoms and the oxetane ring) enables the oxetane (I) to be regarded as a convenient intermediate for the preparation of many derivatives. Thus, methods have been developed for the conversion of (I) into 1, 3-dioxanes [5, 6] and alkoxymethyloxetanes [2]. ...
