Abstract
A stress compound in oats characteristically produced upon treatment with victorin, a host- specific toxin from Helminthosporium victoriae, was isolated. Its structure was shown to be N- (4′-hydroxycinnamoyl)-4-hydroxyanthranilic acid (avenanthramide G), by spectroscopic analyses and chemical synthesis.
