Abstract
Recently,'we found that primary and secondary alcohols were oxidized to aldehydes and ketones when treated in the dark with N-iodosuccinimide (NIS), silver acetate, and heat. Tertiary alcohols were unaffected when subjected to these same reaction conditions.
