Abstract

Procedure. Dry dimethylamine carried by a nitrogen stream was bubbled through an acid chloride (0.5 mol) solution in 1 L of dry benzene, while the mixture was vigorously stirred and kept at 5" C. The gas stream was interrupted when the precipitation of dimethylamine hydrochloride ceased; the stirred mixture was then kept overnight at 20" C.
