Abstract
Discussion For our initial studies, we examined the reaction of phenylboric acid (1s) with methyl 4-bromophenylacetate (Ba). These reactants had provided only the saponified product 4-phenylphenylacetic acid when subjected to the palladium-catalyzed boronic acid coupling reaction in the presence of either sodium bicarbonate or sodium carbonate and had failed to afford any biaryl products with (1)(a) Suzuki, A.; Yanagi, T.; Miyaura, N.
