Abstract
0.0401 mol) and 4 drops of concentrated HCI in 50 mL of dry methanol was heated to reflux overnight. The mixture was cooled to 0" C, and solid NaHC0, was added. The solution was filtered, concentrated in vacuo, then taken up in 50 mL of methylene chloride, and dried. Filtration followed by concentration in vacuo gave 7.06 g (100%) of the desired diester.
