Abstract

The syntheses and acetolyses of 3, 3-diphenyl-and 3, 3-dimethylcyclobutyl tosylates have been carried out. The diphenyl compound was prepared from the corresponding cyclobutanone which, in turn, was obtained in the reac-tion of diphenylketene with diazomethane. The dimethyl compound was prepared by a multistage synthesis. The compounds were solvolyzed in acetic acid containing excess sodium acetate. The ...
