Abstract
The importance of hyperconjugation has been controversial for a good many years. In particular, there is a lack of experimental observations which indicate that hyperconjugation is significant in the ground states of neutral molecule^.^*^ Over the years, many tautomeric equilibria have been examined in an effort to determine the extent of hyperconjugative stabilization at a given center.
