Abstract
In our previous work, we found that addition of a copper(I) species, typically CuI, can effectively enhance the above palladium-catalyzed direct arylation in some cases. 3a It was also observed that the reaction of azoles with aryl iodides can proceed to some extent at the 2-position selectively by using the much less expensive copper species alone as a promoter.
