Abstract

Traditionally, stoichiometric, and even over-stoichiometric, amounts of metal oxides or metal salts, especially chromium(VI) reagents, are used as oxidizing reagents. 2 These procedures, which generate copious quantities of heavy metal wastes, are incompatible with environmental regulations.
