Abstract

678 (1935). discloses the reaction of I with aniline which produces N, N'- diphenylformamidine. Grundmann and Ratz3 and, independently, Dr. Hechenbleikner in our laboratory have also shown the reaction of sym-triazine with ammonium chloride to be very clean and to lead to formamidine hydrochloride in essentially quantitative yield.
