Abstract

However, the mechanism of the reaction pre-s&ts many unsolved problems. Most important among these is a clarification of the path by which an aliphatic hydrocarbon is transformed into an aromatic, ring compound. This might best be illustrated according to a scheme (Fig. 1) presented by Hoog and co-workers.'
