Abstract
In contrast to the reactions with esters, Grignard reagents react with t-butyl perbenzoate at 0” to give t-butyl ethers and benzoic acid. The reaction may be used as a convenient laboratory method for the preparation of t-butyl ethers. Aryl and alkyl Grignard reagents react with t- butyl hydroperoxide to give in excellent 1-ields the corresponding phenols and alcohols.
