Abstract

Two-carbon homologation is a very important transformation in synthetic organic chemistry and numerous methods 1 are available although most involve redox functional group transformations rather than carbon–carbon bond formation. In this regard, the development of two-carbon homologation through carbon–carbon bond formation using organocatalytic tandem methodology 2 can provide an expedient access to homologated products from simple starting materials.
