Abstract

Although several derivatives of pyrido [3, 3-b] quinoline (I) have been~ reparedl-~, the parent heterocyclic compound has remained inaccessible. The failures of classical syntheses involving cyclization of acids derived from N-pyridylanilines3-j prompted us to investigate an approach which obviated such steps6
