Abstract

The dienes listed, except the two furans and 2-chlorobutadiene-1, 3, reacted with I to yield adducts in 65 to 88% yield. Attempts with the furans included standing at room temperature for thirty days without solvent, refluxing without solvent and refluxing in acetic acid. In each case both the furan and I were recovered and there was no residue. In all of the attempts with the 2-chlorobutadiene, I was Completely or nearly completely recovered. The ...
