Abstract
Cyclic sulfonamides (sultams 1 ), although not found in nature, are present in a number of biologically active compounds. They are known to display a variety of pharmacological effects such as cardioprotective, 2 lipoprotein disorders, 3 anti-psychotic, 4 and antifungal. 5 They also have found application as LTB4 inhibitors for allergy and asthma treatment, 6 cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors for anti-arthritic activity, 7 elastase inhibitors as oncolytics, 8 and antibacterial. 9 A number ...
