Abstract
In the context of the development of iron-catalyzed reactions, [6] we planned to use the Lewis acid character of the iron salts to promote a further reduction of the O-silylated intermediate 2 in order to obtain the methylene derivative 3 (Scheme [¹] ). The defunctionalization of ketones to methylenes is a key reaction in the organic chemist tool box and many methodologies have been described in the literature.
