Abstract

Summary: Certain thiazoles are obtained via dehydrative cyclization of the corresponding cysteinyl peptides and oxidation of the resulting thiazolines with NiO2; the biomimetic syntheses of two natural products are reported, as is the potential of NiO2 as an oxidant for other partially reduced heterocycles.
