Abstract

Ethyl vinyl ether (72 g, 1.0 mole), 6-methyl-2-hepten-4-one (63 g, 0.5 mole), snd hydroquinone (0.25 g) were charged into an autoclave and heated at 225" for 5 hr. The mixture was distilled to give, after removal of the excess ethyl vinyl ether, 76 g (77%) of 2, bp 84'(8 mm), TL~ OD 1.4410. Analysis by glpc and nmr indicated the distillate to be an approximately 50: 50 mixture of the czs: md trans isomers of 2; however, the two were not ...
