Abstract

N, N-Dimethylthioacetamide (VI). To a solution of 3 g of NaOH in 25 ml of water we added 3.2 g of elemental sulfur, and the mixture was heated on a water bath at 90395oC until sulfur had dissolved completely. A solution of 2.1 g of tetrachloroethylene in 25 ml of DMF was added to the resulting solution, and the mixture was heated at 90395oC for 4 h, after which it was treated with dilute hydrochloric acid to pH 435.
