Abstract

The author previously reported the successful synthesis of cis and trans 1, 2, 3, 4, 4a, l lb- hexahydro-9, 10, 1 l-trimethoxydibenzo [b, d] thiepin-7 (6H)-one by the ring closure of cis and trans-2-(2', 3', 4'-trimethoxypheny1)~ y~ lohexanemercaptoacetyl chloride with aluminum chloride. In this paper we extend the study to the reaction of cis and trans-2-(2', 3', 4'-trimethoxyphenyl) cycloheptanemercaptoacetyl chloride with aluminum chloride.
