Abstract

In connection with an investigation of the reactions of alpha-bromo-and alpha-hydroxy ketones with arylamines, which has been in progress in this Laboratory for some time,'we desired halogenated ketones of the type (111). The easiest route to such substances appeared to be by way of ketones of the type (11) which should be available from the reaction between substituted methyleneanthrones and organo-magnesium halides.
