Abstract
The synthesis and binding properties of a new guanidiniocarbonyl pyrrole dication are reported, which efficiently binds alanine carboxylate with logKass= 3.9 in buffered water. Due to the increased charge density in this dication, the binding constant is five times larger than for the parent guanidiniocarbonyl pyrrole monocation (logK= 3.2).
