Abstract: The hydrolysis of a series of alkyl phenyl acetals of formaldehyde has been studied (HzO, 30, p= 1.0) as a function of pH. Rateconstantsarederivedforspecificacid-catalyzed hydrolysis of compounds witho-COOCH3, o-COOH, and 0-COO-substituents on the phenyl ring.
