Abstract

The over-all yield for the method is about 45%. Galat'reported a novel synthesis of a,@- unsaturated amides which involved the condensation of aromatic aldehydes with malonmonoamide. We have extended the use of malonmonoamide to include condensations with some aliphatic aldehydes. 8-Isopropylacrylamide and P-ethylacrylamide were prepared in this manner.
