Abstract

Abstract 9-Keto-9H-pyrrolo [1, 2-a] indole is formed by the intramolecular cyclisation of the dilithio derivatives generated from either 1-(2′-carboxyphenyl) pyrrole or 1-(2′- bromophenyl) pyrrole-2-carboxylic acid. The reaction of the 2′-lithio derivative of 1- phenylpyrrole with various electrophiles is also described.
