Abstract

The synthesis and characterization of a new series of mono-, di-, and trinuclear Cr (II) borohydride compounds is described. The reaction of CrCl2 (TMEDA) with two equivalents of NaBH4 afforded the thermally unstable (TMEDA) Cr (BH4) 2 (1), which was converted by treatment with pyridine into the octahedral monomeric (Py) 4Cr (BH4) 2 (2).
