Abstract
HO-LL-LL-L O= C--C= C-CH--C--O The work of a number of investigators, notably that of Perkin,'Henrich2 and Feist, s and especially that of Thorpe and his collaborator^,^ has shown not only that these acids are even more versatile than could have been anticipated, but also that it is extremely difficult to account for all of their peculiarities on the basis of conventional structural formulas.
