Abstract

Summary: Radical chain alkylations of the SRN-type are described that involve the abstraction of a proton from intermediate adduct radicals to form radical anions capable of chain propagation by electron transfer to alkylmercury halides. Vinylic SRN processes are described for 0-and p-hydroxycinnamic acids in basic solution.
