Abstract

An obvious possibility was the chloropyrroline 1 (X= C1). 2 Indeed, when pyrrolidone and phosphorus pentachloride were allowed to react, the same compound reported earlie9 was obtained; however, the proton NMR spectrum did not match the expected structure.
