Abstract

A wide variety of fluorinated heterocyclic compounds have been synthesized and studied as potential enzyme inhibitors and as therapeutic agent^.^-^ Of the possible replacements for hydrogen in carbon-hydrogen bonds, fluorine has the unique advantage of effecting a marked change in electron density distribution and related properties, with minimal change in molecular size or shape.
