Abstract
The reaction of phthaloyl dichloride with potassium 0-alkyl xanthates gave rise to the corresponding unsymmetrical phthaloyl dixanthates. Treatment of phthaloyl dichloride with dithiocarbamates, on the other hand, gave the symmetrical bisdithiocarbamic anhydrides. Photolysis of unsymmetrical phthaloyl dixanthates in benzene solution gave chiefly trans- biphthalyl, whereas symmetrical phthaloic bisdithiocarbamic anhydrides gave a mixture of ...
