Abstract

After several experimentations, the following route to X was developed. 1- Carboxyanthraquinone (IIT) 2) which was derived from 1, 9-benz-10-anthrone (II) by chromic acid oxidation was converted to 1-carboxyanthracene (IV) 3) by reduction with zinc dust in aqueous ammonia.
