Abstract
The recent report'on the reactions of l-methyl-4-piperidone, particularly those with a variety of aromatic aldehydes, indicated a study of similar reactions with the unsymmetrical isomer, 1-methyl-3-piperidone (VI). The preparation of this latter compound from 1-methyl-4- carbethoxy-3-piperidone (V), obtained by the cyclization of the diester (IV) was reported earlier2 from this Laboratory. It seemed of special interest to determine the reactivity of VI ...
