Abstract The enzyme catechol O-methyltransferase (COMT) catalyzes the Me group transfer from the cofactor S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) to the hydroxy group of catechol substrates. Potential bisubstrate inhibitors of COMT were developed by structure-based design and synthesized.
