Abstract An unprecedented copper-catalyzed intramolecular amidation of substituted 4- iodopyrazoles generated either via Baylis–Hillman or Horner–Wadsworth–Emmons chemistry for the synthesis of pyrazolo [4, 3-b] pyridine-5-ones is described.
