Abstract
The stereoselective semihydrogenation of alkynes is an important and useful reaction in organic chemistry.'Recently, the stereoselective hydrogenation of 1, l-butynediol to 1P- butenediol using an interlamellar montmo-rillonite-diphenylphosphinepalladium (I1) complex has been reported. 2 The reaction proceeds with high selectivity (97%), and no reduction of the alkene was observed with the absorption of 1 equiv of hydrogen.
