Abstract

This additional contribution to the rate was reflected in the formation of a different product, namely, the aldehyde p-CH30C6H4CH2CH0, presumably by the reaction sequence of eq 19. Consistent with this interpretation, the product distribution was found to obey the relation [p-CH30C6H4CH2CHO]/[p-CH30C6H4CH3]= k19 [CO]/kl,, the aldehyde fraction increasing from 0 to 46% when the CO partial pressure was increased from 0 to 1 atm.
