Abstract
Recent studies1tz have been made on the formation of isomeric chlorides by the action of zinc chloride and hydrochloric acid on methylneopentylcarbinol and on 2-ethyl-1-butanol. Formation of the equilibrium mixture of 2-and 3-chloropentane on treatment of either with zinc chloride and hydrochloric acid also has been reported.'
