Abstract

Reduction of pyridine bases and their methiodides with aluminum hydride gives rise to both piperidine and piperideine derivatives simultaneously. Reduction of 2, 3-dimethylpyridine gives, 2, 3-dimethyl-3-piperideine (VIa), 2, 4-dimethylpyridine gives 4, 6-dimethyl-3- piperideine (Ia), 2, 5-dimethylpyridine gives 3, 6-dimethyl-3-piperideine (Va), 3, 5- dimethylpyridine gives 3, 5-dimethyl-3-piperideine (IVa), 3, 4-dimethylpyridine gives a ...
