Abstract

The preparation of la-methylsubstituted Sa-androstane compounds hydroxylated at positions 3a-and 3~ is described. It was found that the 3~-hydroxyl group can be selectively tosylated; the 3a-hydroxyl group does not react with p-toluenesulphonyl chloride. Methyl and ethinyl groups were introduced into position 17a.
