Abstract
We have postulated that a close relationship exists between the strain energy of bridged bicyclic bridgehead alkenes and the strain energy of truns-cycloalkenes.'This hypothesis leads to the prediction that bridged bicyclic alkenes in which the bridgehead double bonds are endocyclic in rings of at least eight members should be sufficiently stable to allow their synthesis and isolation.
